PIDOM: Ezekwesili Demands Answers From IGP, DSS On Missing Nigerian Whistleblower

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, to clarify the whereabouts of the Nigerian whistleblower known as PIDOMNIGERIA.

Ezekwesili urged the heads of the police and DSS to inform the public if their agencies have detained the whistleblower, emphasizing their responsibility to maintain transparency and accountability.

PIDOMNIGERIA, who operates under the alias “99% Oppressed” on social media, is renowned for exposing corruption by leaking sensitive documents related to the federal government, security agencies, state governments, and private companies.

Naija News reports that the disappearance of PIDOMNIGERIA was first highlighted by fellow investigative journalist David Hundeyin, raising concerns about the whistleblower’s safety.

In a post on her social media platform, Ezekwesili addressed the issue directly: “IG of @PoliceNG and DG of @OfficialDSSNG you have a duty of transparency and public accountability and must perform it.

“Public accountability mandates that Nigerians are duly informed about the whereabouts of Citizen-@PIDOMNIGERIA whose disappearance is raising serious concerns and fingers are pointing in your direction.”

Ezekwesili further cautioned the authorities against unconstitutional actions that could lead to public unrest.

She demanded the immediate release of PIDOMNIGERIA, asserting that the whistleblower has the right to defend himself against any accusations brought against him.

“You should by now have learnt how to avoid unconstitutional actions against citizens that can cause restiveness.

“Let the public know immediately why @PIDOMNIGERIA is in your custody.

“Release @PIDOMNIGERIA immediately to exercise his constitutional rights of reply against any allegations you have against him,” Ezekwesili added.
