Pat Utomi Unveils NDC’s Independent Result Transmission Plan Ahead of 2027 Polls

Political economist and strategist Prof. Pat Utomi has revealed that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is developing an independent election result transmission and monitoring system ahead of the 2027 general elections, a move already generating debate across Nigeria’s political landscape.

Speaking on the party’s election preparations, Utomi said the system would enable results from polling units nationwide to be transmitted in real time and independently tracked as votes are counted.

According to him, the initiative is designed to strengthen transparency, protect the integrity of votes, and provide an additional layer of public scrutiny throughout the electoral process.

Utomi disclosed that election data gathered by the party’s polling unit agents would be monitored globally through major international media organizations, including CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Fox News, as well as reputable Nigerian media platforms.

He explained that the objective is to ensure that results recorded at polling units are documented and tracked from the point of origin, reducing opportunities for manipulation and enhancing public confidence in the electoral process.

The NDC strategist further revealed plans to deploy a robust network of polling unit agents across the federation to monitor voting, safeguard election materials, and help prevent intimidation of election officials and party representatives.

According to him, the strategy reflects lessons learned from previous elections and underscores the party’s determination to protect every vote cast in 2027.

The proposal has sparked mixed reactions among political observers. Supporters argue that independent monitoring systems could improve transparency and accountability, while critics insist that only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has the constitutional authority to collate and officially announce election results.

As political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, debates over technology, election security, result transmission, and voter protection are expected to remain at the forefront of national discourse.

We will continue to monitor developments surrounding the NDC’s election strategy and reactions from electoral authorities, political parties, and civil society groups.
