A 39-year-old Pastor, Michael Ogundepo, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State Command over alleged fraud.

The suspect who resides at No. 15 Ewu Agbo Street, Ikorodu Lagos, was arrested for scamming one Miss Fagbuyiro Ajetomobi Yemi of No. 110, Osi, Igoba, Akure, under the pretence of helping her to obtain a visa.

Ogundepo reportedly collected N1.670 million from the victim.

According to NSCDC public relations officer, DSC Aidamenbor Daniel, the suspect over the last two months fraudulently seized the complainant’s passport and converted her money for personal use thereby denying her the opportunity to apply for another visa.

NSCDC said the command invited the suspect severally, but he declined the invitation.

Aldamenbor said, “He claimed to be outside the country and used a fake international number to call the complainant as a disguise.

“The suspect was arrested, when he was invited to collect the sum of N3 million for a visa job, without knowing it was bait.

“The investigation has revealed that he has defrauded several other unsuspecting clients, thereby committing an offence punishable under the Criminal Code contrary to section 419 of Criminal Code Law, Cap 37, Vol. 1 of Ondo State, 2006, and punishable under the same section.”
