Panic in Russia as hundreds of Porsche owners suddenly found their vehicles immobilised, with the issue – linked to deliberate satellite interference – affecting all Porsche models produced after 2013, according to reports from RBC news website.

Rolf, Russia’s largest dealership group, told RBC it began seeing a spike in service requests on Friday as cars lost connection to their onboard alarm modules – which are linked via satellite.

“It’s possible this was done deliberately,” RBC said, after Porsche owners in Moscow and Krasnodar began reporting sudden engine shutdowns and fuel-delivery blockages.

“Currently, the blocking can be bypassed by resetting the factory alarm unit and disassembling it. We are continuing to investigate the issue and the mechanic’s options for unlocking the vehicles,” Rolf told RBC on how to restore the function.

Others reported success after disconnecting their car batteries for up to 10 hours, according to Moscow Times, citing reports from the Telegram channel Mash.

Porsche AG suspended official car deliveries to Russia in 2022 following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, though the German brand attributed this decision to “great uncertainty and current upheavals.”
