@AEW

To take it home for their AEW International American title match this Sunday at All In, champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Will Ospreay had a face-to-face on the Aug. 21 Dynamite.

MJF claimed that Tony Khan and Warner Bros Discovery begged him to come back from injury early to get the company out of the mess Ospreay’d made of it. The Brit returned fire by mocked MJF’s babyface run last year, claiming that Khan brought him in for AEW’s first Wembley Stadium PPV — despite the fact he already had “3,000 people and their nans” under contract — because he couldn’t count on his World champ to put on a great match.

Ospreay countered that he was now with AEW to “restore the feeling” because he is “the feeling” (bruv).

Saying he was wrong for trusting TK when he said AEW was safe in Ospreay’s hands, MJF ran through his own credentials and the number of people in the business that have labeled him the future. Will can be the feeling all he wants, because “Friedman is facts”. Those facts included that Ospreay is afraid to pull the trigger on the one move that can beat him — the Tiger Driver ‘91.

The challenger was clearly under the champion’s skin though, as he angrily admitted that he’s jealous that they fans embraced Ospreay over him.

Then Max went too far, comparing Ospreay’s stewardship of AEW to how he raises his stepson like he was Ospreay’s own. MJF said he was giving his rival props, but wrapped up by saying that after he spoke to Will’s Mrs., he doesn’t think her next kid will be Ospreay’s either.

That was too much, and prompted Bruv to check with Tony Khan about the fine for breaking the “no physicality” clause for tonight’s face-to-face. Tony Schiavone informed him it was 100,000 pounds, or $127,000 American. Ospreay initially thought better of it, then decided it was “worth it” and launched himself at MJF.

It went well for Will initially, but when security got involved it gave Friedman a chance to bust Ospreay open with a Dynamite Diamond Ring loaded punch.

Friedman teased hitting the Tiger Driver himself before security cleared him out of the ring while interim EVP Christopher Daniels checked on Will. Backstage later, Ospreay was confronted by the man he “injured” using the Tiger Driver, prompting his vow. Bryan Danielson made it clear that Will should feel free to use the move against MJF this Sunday.
