Osimhen gives update on injury in World Cup playoff

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has shared a positive update on the injury he sustained during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying playoff defeat to DR Congo on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward suffered a hamstring issue and was forced off in the second half, with Akor Adams coming on to replace him. His absence proved costly as DR Congo gained control of the match and eventually defeated the Super Eagles 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw across 120 minutes.

Speaking to A Spor at the Istanbul airport after the playoffs concluded, Osimhen reassured fans about his condition. “My injury is not very serious,” he said (via Habersarikirmizi).

The 26-year-old is now focused on recovering in time to feature for Galatasaray in their Turkish Super Lig clash against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday.

Osimhen joined the Turkish champions permanently from Napoli during the summer transfer window.
