Raphael Onyedika faces the risk of missing Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Lesotho and Benin Republic after limping out of Club Brugge’s dramatic 5-5 draw with Westerlo on Wednesday night.

The midfielder lasted just 16 minutes before being replaced by Alexander Stankovic, raising concerns over his availability for club and country.

Onyedika has featured six times in the Belgian Pro League this season under head coach Nicky Hayen, who is expected to give a clearer update on the Nigerian’s condition before Saturday’s clash with Standard Liège.

For Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle, the potential absence of Onyedika adds to growing concerns in midfield, with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru also a doubt after sustaining a muscle injury during Lazio’s 1-0 defeat to Roma last weekend.

Chelle will be hoping both players recover in time, with Nigeria set to resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in October.
