streaming guide

By the time the weekend rolls around, staying in and watching a show are just about the only plans that sound appealing to me. I used to get excited about getting dressed up and staying out late, but I won’t lie to you, those days are over. Instead, streaming what’s new is now my idea of a wild Saturday night. I’m so committed to it, I’m even marking release dates in my calendar months in advance.

With all of the streaming services now, it can be hard to keep up with what to watch and where to watch it. However, this month, the lineups are so good that you’ll want to ensure you have a subscription to every platform, or at least your friends’ passwords. These shows and movies are about to be the sole topic of conversation in The Everygirl’s #watercooler Slack channel, and I’ll be damned if I miss out on that.

Cancel your plans and get comfortable because it’s time to hit “Play.” Without further ado, here are some of the most anticipated shows and movies that are new on streaming this month.

Netflix

With Love, Meghan (Season 2)

Stream on Netflix

If you didn’t tune in for season 1 of With Love, Meghan, you’re seriously missing out. Meghan Markle is back again for season 2, inviting more friends and famous guests to a beautiful California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening, and hosting tips. Get ready to be totally inspired (again).

Wednesday (Season 2 , Volume 2)

Stream on Netflix starting September 3

The final batch of episodes for Wednesday Season 2 is impending. We’re sad we’ll have to wait until Season 3 to watch more, but also thankful for the Addams family getting us in the spooky fall mood. Fingers crossed for no cliffhangers!

The Wrong Paris

Stream on Netflix starting September 12

This one’s for all of us Nickelodeon kids out there! Miranda Cosgrove stars in this new romantic comedy about a woman who joins a dating show she thinks will be in Paris, France, not Paris, Texas. I personally think the rom-com genre suits Miranda well, so I’m very excited for this one.

Black Rabbit

Stream on Netflix starting September 18

This limited series definitely caught my attention, and I have a feeling we’re all gonna be talking about this one. Jude Law and Jason Bateman star in this new crime thriller series about a rising-star restaurateur forced to join New York’s criminal underworld when his chaotic brother returns to town with loan sharks on his trail.

Peacock

The Paper (Season 1)

Stream on Peacock starting September 4

Calling all my The Office lovers, you won’t want to miss this one. The Paper is a spinoff show that follows the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin, as they find a new subject—a historic Midwestern newspaper and its publisher’s attempt to revive it. Filmed in the iconic The Office style, this one is full of nostalgia.

Apple TV+

Highest 2 Lowest

Stream on Apple TV+ starting September 5

This new crime thriller movie follows the story of a powerful music mogul (Denzel Washington) who is targeted by a ransom plot after the kidnapping of his son. He’s ready to fight for his family and legacy, but soon finds himself in a life-or-death moral dilemma when he realizes the kidnappers took his son’s best friend by mistake. Is he willing to fight for his son’s friend, too?

The Morning Show (Season 4)

Stream on Apple TV+ starting September 17

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are back again for season 4 of The Morning Show! Taking place almost two years after the events of Season 3, the newsroom must grapple with newfound responsibility after a merger, hidden motives, and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America. Sit back, grab your popcorn, and be amazed at how drama-riddled the morning news can really be.

The Savant

Stream on Apple TV+ starting September 26

September is the month of crime thrillers, and I’m here for it. Jessica Chastain stars in this miniseries as a top-secret undercover investigator known as the Savant, who infiltrates online hate groups to take down the most violent extremists in the U.S. before crimes happen. I can already tell that this one’s gonna keep me on the edge of my seat.

Hulu

Only Murders in the Building (Season 5)

Stream on Hulu starting September 9

Only Murders in the Building is back, baby. Season 5 finally premieres this month, after season 4 left us off with a massive cliffhanger. Our favorite team of sleuths is coming together yet again to solve a new murder mystery, and this time, it’s a lot more personal.

Chad Powers

Stream on Hulu starting September 30

Glen Powell, oh how we’ve missed you. This new comedy series stars our latest man-crush as hot-shot quarterback Russ Holliday. Eight years after a mistake ruins his promising college football career, he tries to resurrect his dreams by disguising himself as Chad Powers—a talented oddball who walks on to a struggling Georgia football team. I fear that I’ll probably still find him attractive, even in his disguise.

Prime Video

The Runarounds

Stream on Prime Video starting September 1

I can smell a viral internet song coming from this one. The Runarounds follows a group of recent high school graduates who form a rock band. They throw themselves into the pursuit of their big break—falling in love, getting into trouble, and forming bonds that feel like family. Showing the raw highs and lows of young adulthood, this one will be both entertaining and emotional.

The Girlfriend

Stream on Prime Video starting September 10

My psychological thriller girlies, this one’s for you. The Girlfriend follows Robin Wright as Laura, a woman who seemingly has it all—a glittering career, a loving husband, and her precious son, Daniel. Her perfect life unravels when Daniel brings home a girlfriend who changes everything. Laura becomes convinced she’s hiding something. Manipulation, paranoia, drama—this series has it all. And in true psychological thriller fashion, the truth is a matter of perspective.

Hotel Costiera

Stream on Prime Video starting September 24

Jesse Williams stars in this new action drama series as a former U.S. Marine who returns to Italy as a fixer in one of the world’s most luxurious hotels. But secretly, he is also on the trail of Alice, one of the owner’s daughters, who disappeared a month earlier—but facing her kidnappers will be more challenging than anything he’s done before.

HBO Max

Task

Stream on HBO Max starting September 7

No matter the genre or plot, I’m a sucker for anything with Mark Ruffalo in it. Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Ruffalo) heads a task force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man. This crime drama rolls out episodes weekly, meaning I’ll have a new show to look forward to throughout the fall.
