Renowned comedian, Okechukwu McAnthony, better known as Okey Bakassi, is set to lead a host of top-tier entertainers at the Cultural Expo Night of the 2nd Niger Delta Games. The event takes place on Wednesday, 25th February, at the Cathelea Convention Centre.

Joining Bakassi will be Niger Delta music sensation Harry Song, alongside rising star Daniel Edoreh, known as Danielo. This evening of entertainment is designed to provide a much-deserved break for the young athletes who have spent the preceding six days competing for medals for their respective states.

Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, Lead Consultant at Dunamis-Icon Limited, the organisers of the games, believes that such high-calibre entertainment is crucial for fostering a well-rounded youth experience encompassing sport, competition, and discipline.

“The primary reason for bringing these young ones to the games is sport, but we also want them to learn discipline through the choreographed performances at the opening ceremony and now the entertainment to have them experience leisure and relaxation,” Ikpokpo explained.

The Cultural Expo is overseen by the Entertainment Committee, led by entertainment impresario Edi Lawani. He confirmed additional artistes performing on the night, including Seyi Law, Jikume, MC Porcupyne, and G-Flex.

Further performances will feature DJ Wikki, MC Casino, Ikpa Udo, DJ Masked Queen, and DJ Sunny Dread.

“We have a carefully selected cast of musicians chosen from the Niger Delta states and a mix of DJs and up-and-coming comedians,” Lawani stated. “It will also feature dance and a fashion parade, as we will also provide the athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills on the microphone and dance floor in a variety contest.”

The 2nd Niger Delta Games commenced on 20th February and will conclude on the 20th of the same month. The games are sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and powered by Dunamis-Icon Limited.
