Obedience to God’s Call and Trusting Him for Provision

By John Abiola

Come over… and help us.” … “Immediately we endeavoured to go…”Acts 16:9–10 .

When God calls a man or woman, He is not asking for opinion, He is calling for obedience. Many times, He will not explain everything. He gives a word, a burden, a direction, and expects a response.
One of the greatest dangers in the life of a believer is delay. Not open sin, but quiet disobedience, waiting when God has said move, doubting when God has spoken, reasoning when God has made His will known.

Abraham was called to leave his land without knowing where he was going. He did not wait for full understanding. He obeyed. And as he moved, God guided him. As he obeyed, God provided. Scripture says By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went”. Hebrew 11:8.

When Paul saw the Macedonia vision, he did not delay. The Bible says immediately they went. That is the kind of heart God is looking for today, quick to respond, ready to obey. Bible said,” And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia”- Acts 16:9-10.

God is still calling today. He is still calling missionaries and intercessors to rise and go to the nations. He is still placing burdens in hearts, stirring people in prayer, and sending His servants to places where His light must shine and His name must be known.

John G. Lake call to South Africa
This same pattern is seen in the life of John G. Lake, as shared by Roberts Liadon in God’s Generals. God called him to missionary work in South Africa. The calling was clear, but there was no visible provision.
He had a family of nine, consisting of two adults and seven children. He had responsibilities. Naturally, it was not the “right time.” But in the spirit, it was the appointed time.
He chose to obey.
As he stepped out in faith, God began to move. People were stirred to support the mission. Needs were met step by step. And when they arrived, God had already gone ahead of them.
A missionary woman, Mrs. C. L. Goodenough, had been led in prayer to go and meet them. She received them and provided accommodation for the family. What looked uncertain became settled in one day. God had prepared help before they arrived. This was not coincidence. This was divine provision.

From that point, the work began to grow. Within a few years, the mission expanded greatly. Through what became associated with the Apostolic Faith Mission in South Africa, many churches were planted, and countless lives were touched through salvation, healing, and deliverance.
All of this started with one thing: obedience to God’s call. A great move of God followed, all because one man obeyed, and others also obeyed.

In the same way today, God can place a burden in someone’s heart to help, to give, to invite, or to open a door. It may come as a quiet conviction, a dream, a vision, or a deep sense during prayer that they should act.
Those who support missionary work, intercession, and soul winning for the spread of the gospel also become partakers in the work and reward of advancing God’s kingdom and touching lives for Christ. But one important thing is this, when God truly speaks, it usually comes with peace, clarity, and alignment with His word, not confusion or pressure.

This is how God works. He calls one to go, and He speaks to others to support. He sends, and He prepares the way ahead.
This shows that God can call His servants to specific places for His purpose. The call may come through prayer, through burden, or through spiritual encounters, but it requires obedience and faith to respond.

In recent years, hundreds of intercessors from South Korea traveled across different cities in the United States to pray for revival and spiritual awakening in America. Many of them said they came because they believed God placed a burden in their hearts to pray for America and to give back spiritually for the missionary influence America once had on Korea. This reminds us that God still stirs hearts today and still sends people across nations for prayer, revival, and the advancement of the gospel .

Today, God is still calling people into different fields of service,
But hear this clearly: when God is calling, delay is dangerous because delay can weaken faith. Delay can open the door to doubt. Delay can cause a man to miss his time. Delay can open the door for distractions. Delay can cause setback to God’s work.

A call to prayer and Revival in the nations .
At this time, I am responding to a growing burden and direction in prayer concerning a missionary and intercessory assignment among nations, with a strong sense of leading toward the United States.
I am not trusting in my own strength or ability. I am trusting God to confirm His word, open the right doors, and provide all that is needed for me and my team.
I ask for your prayers, that there will be no delay, no confusion, and no resistance to God’s will. That His purpose will be fulfilled in His time.
And if the Lord lays it on your heart to support or stand with this work in any way, please respond as He leads you.
Let this remain in your heart:
Where God leads, He provides. Where He sends, He sustains. Where He calls, He makes a way.
May we not delay.
May we not doubt.
May we obey.
