NXT’s Von Wagner reportedly released by WWE during last week’s cuts

WWE never made an official announcement about the talent releases we learned about last Friday night (April 19), and it seems that means at least one person effected wasn’t reported on along with Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, Veer Mahan, Sanga & Xyon Quinn. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp now tells us that NXT’s Von Wagner was let go along with the five names we learned about last week. Wagner signed with WWE in 2019, and became a regular part of the NXT television product with its 2.0 rebranding a year later. A physically imposing figure with a compelling backstory, the company seemed to have hopes for Wagner — but also concerns. His program with Robert Stone got a ton of TV time over the years, and he even made a one-off appearance on SmackDown in 2021 that seemed to hinted at an association with authority figure Adam Pearce.
