NSCDC Foils Bandit Kidnapping Attempt At Federal Government Grain Reserve In Katsina

In a swift and decisive operation, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping of Alhaji Lawal Shittu Yar’Adua, the manager of the Federal Government Special Grains Reserve in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The NSCDC spokesperson in the state, DSC Buhari Hamisu, disclosed this development in a statement issued on Saturday, commending the vigilance and prompt response of the Agro Ranger operatives deployed to secure the reserve and its staff.

According to the statement, the NSCDC personnel were on high alert and swiftly engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle that lasted for over two hours. Despite the bandits attempting to breach the security perimeter, the operatives managed to overpower them, forcing the criminals to flee through the reserve's fence with various injuries.

Fortunately, the attempted kidnapping did not result in any harm to Alhaji Lawal Shittu Yar’Adua, nor was the silo damaged during the encounter.

In response to the incident, the NSCDC has called for reinforcement from relevant security agencies and has deployed additional personnel to the location. Measures are being implemented to enhance the firepower of operatives on the ground, with the aim of preventing any future attacks.

The NSCDC emphasized the importance of public cooperation and urged members of the community to remain vigilant, providing timely information to security agencies about any suspicious activities or movements in their vicinity.
