No rift in Super Eagles camp after Mozambique win – Team Coordinator

Super Eagles team coordinator Dayo Enebi Achor has dismissed rumours and insinuations of unrest within the Nigeria camp following Monday night’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria, coached by Éric Chelle, were dominant throughout the Round of 16 encounter, with Victor Osimhen scoring twice. Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams also found the net to seal a convincing win over the Mambas of Mozambique.

Speculation arose after Osimhen was seen gesturing towards Lookman moments before a corner kick, prompting conjecture across both traditional and social media platforms.

However, Achor was quick to play down the rumours, insisting there was no crisis in the squad.

“There is no problem whatsoever in our camp. Whatever people saw as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a couple of hours later. All is good and we are presently at training,” Achor said in an interview with thenff.com.

He also refuted reports that Akor Adams had abandoned the team camp after the match. According to the team coordinator, the striker—who scored his first-ever AFCON goal—briefly left camp with permission to visit his mother, who was hospitalised in Fès.

“He took permission to go and see his mother who was hospitalized here in Fès, and returned in less than an hour,” Achor added.

The Super Eagles now turn their full focus to their next assignment as they continue their push for continental glory at the Africa Cup of Nations.
