NLO Awards Jaguar FC Three Points, Fines Abakaliki Feeders N500,000 Over Match Disruption

The Nationwide League One (NLO) has awarded three points and three goals to Jaguar FC after their league match against Abakaliki Feeders was disrupted by crowd violence at the Pa Ngele Oruta Stadium in Abakaliki on Wednesday.

The encounter was thrown into chaos after supporters of the home side allegedly invaded the pitch, forcing the match officials to walk off in protest over security concerns.

According to reports, the referees later returned after a lengthy delay before controversially awarding a late penalty to Abakaliki Feeders.

Reacting swiftly on Thursday, the NLO described the incident as an “embarrassment,” especially as the match was being broadcast live.

In its ruling, the league body cited Article 4:3(1) of its statutes and consequently awarded Jaguar FC three points and three goals.

The NLO also slammed Abakaliki Feeders with a fine of N500,000, ordering the club to settle the payment before participating in their next fixture of the ongoing season.

The decision underscores the league’s commitment to maintaining discipline, security, and fair play across all NLO centres.
