Nigerian Troops Capture Notorious IPOB Commander Gentle’ and Eight Others in Fresh South-East Raids

The Nigerian military has confirmed the arrest of a wanted commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), known as Gentle, alongside eight of his associates during coordinated operations in Imo and Ebonyi states.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Magnus Kangye, revealed the development while briefing journalists in Abuja, noting that the arrest followed a series of targeted offensives carried out by the Joint Task Force, Operation UDO KA, between October 8 and 13.

According to Kangye, the suspects were apprehended in Owerri West and Mbaitoli local councils of Imo State, and in Izzi and Ohaukwu areas of Ebonyi State. He added that troops also seized several weapons, ammunition, and vehicles linked to the group.

The military further disclosed the arrest of a female collaborator connected to IPOB’s Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State on October 13.

The Defence Headquarters said the arrests are part of wider ongoing operations across the country aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace in affected regions.
