Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool have confirmed that Jurgen Klopp will return to Anfield to assist Sir Kenny Dalglish in a Liverpool Legends game in March.

The former Reds manager will step back into the dugout just 18 months after leaving, as Liverpool take on Borussia Dortmund on March 28.

Legends expected to feature in the match include Sami Hyypia, Fabio Aurelio, Gregory Vignal, Martin Kelly, and Yossi Benayoun.

Liverpool confirmed Klopp’s return in a statement on their website on Thursday.

The statement read: “Jürgen Klopp has joined the Liverpool FC Legends management team for the upcoming game against Borussia Dortmund Legends.

“Klopp will return to the Anfield dugout to assist manager Sir Kenny Dalglish for the charity match, presented by AXA and in association with Forever Reds, on Saturday March 28 (3pm GMT kick-off). Dalglish and Klopp will be joined on the touchline by LFC ambassador Ian Rush and Forever Reds chair John Aldridge.”

Klopp led the club to one Premier League title, one Champions League crown, an FA Cup, two EFL Cups, the Community Shield, a UEFA Super Cup and a Fifa Club World Cup.

In that title-winning season of 2019-20, his Liverpool side became the fastest team to reach 30 wins and were within one of breaking the 100-point mark.

In total, Klopp signed 37 players during his tenure for the Reds at an approximate cost of £850m.
