A Nigerian student has taken to social media to express her frustration after returning N2 million mistakenly sent to her bank account, only to receive no acknowledgment or compensation from the sender.

The student shared her ordeal on TikTok, explaining how she went out of her way to ensure the money was returned to its rightful owner. She recounted leaving her class and traveling to the bank to facilitate the return of the funds, assuming that the recipient, who she believed to be a businessperson, would appreciate her efforts.

In a voice note directed at the sender, the student vented her disappointment, criticizing the recipient for being selfish and inconsiderate. She lamented the time and resources she spent on the process, expecting at least a gesture of gratitude in return.

“You are being selfish. I am a student. I left my class and boarded transport because I felt you’re a businessperson and needed the money. I left everything asap and went to the bank,” she said. “They kept me waiting and you are now doing this at the end of the day. My God will judge you for wasting my time. Ordinary transport I wasted. And you’re saying you are a Yoruba woman. You are not a Yoruba woman. You are a woman that is disappointing her child. Rubbish.”

The video has sparked discussions online about the ethics of compensation in situations where individuals go out of their way to return lost money.
