MVP reflects on his latest WWE run amidst reports it’s about to end

MVP’s Instagram Even before the recent reports that Montell Vontavious Porter would be leaving WWE when his contract expires next month, there were signs that MVP wouldn’t be with the company for much longer. Now, MVP’s posted a message on Instagram reflecting on the past five or so years of his career. The 50 year old Porter doesn’t directly comment on the rumors (which include Bobby Lashley leaving as well, with the two eventually reunited with Shelton Benjamin to work a version of their Hurt Business gimmick elsewhere), but it’s hard not to read it as a farewell. Even before the recent reports that Montell Vontavious Porter would be leaving WWE when his contract expires next month, there were signs that MVP wouldn’t be with the company for much longer.

I came back so my baby boy could see “Daddy” in a WWE ring. “The Royal Rumble.” That’s all I wanted. A one off. I was ready to retire. Then, I received an offer to become a producer. The pandemic hit. I became a producer AND a commentator for Main Event. Next, they asked me to put the boots on and help out with TV during the “PC Era”. One episode of RAW, “MVP” was in NINE segments! Heyman agreed to put me and Roberto together. I signed a full time talent contract.

And then we made history.

What a ride!!!!

What a ride indeed. We’ll see where it takes MVP next.
