Moi University Ranked Third in Offering Blended Degree Programs

Moi University has been ranked third by the Kenya Education Network (KENET) for the adoption of locally hosted blended and online learning platforms.

In a statement shared on Friday, November 5, 2025, the university announced that it had received a Certificate of Recognition from KENET for this achievement.

“Moi University is honored to receive a Certificate of Recognition from KENET (Kenya Education Network) for emerging as the third-ranked institution in the adoption of blended and online learning on locally hosted platforms,” read part of the statement.

KENET Guidelines on Online Teaching

KENET provides virtual classroom platforms that enable live, direct interactions between students and lecturers when physical interaction is not possible.

The network also supports optimization of existing Learning Management Systems to ensure smooth operation and efficient digital learning delivery.

KENET helps to ensure students and faculty can access online learning resources affordably, promoting equitable participation in online education.

In addition to virtual classroom platforms, KENET offers online cybersecurity training for faculty, staff, and students to ensure the safe and secure use of digital platforms in their teaching and learning.

Role in E-Learning Advancement

The network has played a key role in supporting universities in their transition to digital learning in many ways.

It provides broadband internet services by connecting member institutions to the national and global internet. This ensures that members are provided with a secure, fast, reliable, and dedicated internet connection that promotes research, education, innovation, and collaboration among institutions to help them accomplish their educational and research mandates.

KENET also facilitates the use of ICT in research across institutions. The network has established a gateway that provides access to advanced e-infrastructures used for research globally. These resources are available to members of the International Research and Education Community, enabling universities and scholars in Kenya to connect with world-class digital research tools and collaborations.

Additionally, they offer a range of shared services to member institutions, some of which are bundled with connectivity and not charged to members, while others are charged separately from connectivity.

Through fundraising, KENET facilitates education services in member institutions to support capacity building and local educational content development programmes.
