Mohamed Salah has downplayed talk over his contract, which expires at Liverpool next summer.

The Egypt international could leave for free at the end of the season while there has been no reports of an extension any time recently.

It has left Anfield chiefs worrying over losing one of their prized assets for nothing while fans are desperate to see him stay.

But the alarm bells are not ringing in Salah's camp, where the forward has been incredibly relaxed over the situation.

"Before the season, I was just like 'I've got one year left, let's just enjoy it and don't think about the contract'," Salah told Sky Sports.

"I don't want to think about next year or the future, I just want to enjoy the last year [of my contract] and let's see.

"The most important thing is to take one day at a time and just be grateful to be here."

Liverpool turned down an offer from Al-Ittihad last September worth a whopping £150million - which would have been a record departure in the Premier League.

Whether a move to the Saudi Pro League will be reignited remains to be seen but foreign clubs will be allowed to speak to Salah from January onwards over a pre-contract agreement.
