Ministry of Defence to Auction Vehicles with Bid Deposit of Ksh50K

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has announced that it will hold a public auction of cast vehicles, equipment, and a general store.

According to the auction notice by the MOD, the goods will be sold on an ‘as-is-where-is’ basis during the auction.

Viewing of the vehicles, equipment, and general stores will be conducted on working days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on public holidays.

“The vehicles, equipment, and boarded general stores can be viewed from 16 Mar 26 during working days only (Monday to Friday) except on public holidays,” the notice read.

During the viewing days, interested individuals may obtain catalogues giving full details of items.

Catalogues will be obtained from offices at Ulinzi House main gate along Lenanna Road, 23OCC, Nakuru, 43 OCC Nanyuki, KNB Mtongwe, DEFOD Kahawa, and 63 OCC Garissa.

A non-refundable payment of 1,000 Kenyan shillings is required to acquire the catalogue at any of the offices.

Additionally, interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable bid number deposit of KSh 50,000 for vehicles and KSh 30,000 for equipment and stores.

The payments are expected to be paid in cash to the MOD before the last day of viewing to acquire a bid number.

“Each bid number will only be allowed to bid for one Lot ONLY,” the notice stated concerning the bid numbers and the lots.

During the auction, bidders will be expected to present the original catalogue and receipts for both the catalogue and bid number deposit at the entrance.

Bidders Expectations

All successful bidders will be required to pay a 25% deposit of the bid during the bidding session, with the remaining balance due within 14 days.

Failure to comply with the payment terms will result in the award being cancelled and the deposit being forfeited.

Unsuccessful bidders will be refunded the bid number deposits on presentation of the respective original receipts.

The tender bid deposit of successful bidders will be credited to their bid price, and thereafter, they will be required to top up the difference.

Items will be collected within 30 days of making full payment, without fail, to avoid paying storage charges at a rate of 1% of the bid offer per day. Items not collected within the 3 months will be forfeited, together with the monies paid against them.

The person responsible for the payment of duty, VAT, and other related charges, as established under Government regulations, will be the bidder.

In addition, they must get clearance from KRA before the collection of the items from the sale yards.

Bidders who purchase motor vehicles will be required to ensure the vehicles are painted in non-military colors before use.

Additionally, the vehicles’ number plates should be registered immediately to avoid impoundment.

Ministry of Defence reserves the right to reject any bid below the reserve price and does not bind itself to give the reasons for the rejection.
