Miley Cyrus has opened up about the emotional moment her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, cried after she gifted him a song as a peace offering. The 32-year-old singer revealed this while speaking on CBS Sunday Morning, where she discussed the story behind Secrets a track on her new album Something Beautiful that she dedicated to her dad for his birthday in August. My dad cried, Miley said during the interview. You dont see your dad cry a lot. Thats something you remember whether its happy or painful tears.She added that she hadnt seen her father cry since his own dad passed away. Miley and her dad, Billy Ray, had been at odds following her parents 2022 divorce a rift that reportedly affected the entire family. But according to Miley, music helped them reconnect. We didnt feel like there needed to be a big conversation, she explained. Him and I communicate better through song. Once he got the song, it said something in a few minutes that wouldve taken a family with therapy many sessions. Miley added that instead of traditional family counseling, she and her dad do studio sessions and send songs to say I love you.
