Manchester United Football Club have released an update on the injury situation of Luke Shaw ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The club confirmed the news on its official website on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. According to the statement by the Red Devils, Luke Shaw will miss the opening games of the new Premier League season which begins on Friday, August 16, 2024.

The statement read thus,

"Luke Shaw will miss the opening games of the Premier League season due to a calf injury sustained at the start of pre-season training. He is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break."

The international break of the season is scheduled to happen in the first week of September. This means Luke Shaw will miss top-flight clashes vs. Fulham (August 16), Brighton and Hove Albion (August 24) and Liverpool (September 1)

Shaw spent most of the 2023/24 season injured, having just 12 appearances in the Premier League. He played just 15 games across all competitions. He was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 but he did not play in their group matches against Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia.

He made his first appearance in the quarter-final vs. Switzerland when he was brought on from the bench in the 78th minute to replace United teammate Kobbie Mainoo.

Manchester United supporters will hope that Luke Shaw is fit in due time before the games schedule gets tight.
