The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man accused of stabbing his cousin to death and injuring two other persons during a violent dispute in Tingno District, Lamurde Local Government Area.

The incident took place around 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, in Garin Maitunku community, following a reported misunderstanding between the suspect, Begam Damdam, and his cousin, Kawarijo Thomas.

According to police sources, Damdam allegedly stabbed Thomas in the chest, leading to his immediate death. He also stabbed two other individuals—Thomas Demdem and Robert Yohanna—on their hands during the altercation.

Officers from Tingno Police Division responded swiftly to a distress call received around 7:00 p.m., rushed to the scene, and evacuated the victims to General Hospital, Numan.

Medical personnel confirmed Kawarijo Thomas dead on arrival, and his body was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy. The two injured victims are currently receiving treatment and are said to be in stable condition.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that the suspect has fled the scene and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been directed to carry out a thorough and discreet investigation into the matter.

Police authorities have appealed to members of the public with useful information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward or contact the nearest police station, assuring that such assistance will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state and urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
