Madinah Begins Pilot Operation of Second Phase of “Mawaqif Al Madinah” Parking Project

The Madinah Region Municipality has begun the pilot operation of the second phase of the “Mawaqif Al Madinah” parking project across several major roads, as part of efforts to improve parking management and make movement and access to key destinations across the city more efficient.

Five Major Roads Included in the Second Phase

The second phase covers five major roads: Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road, Prince Abdul Mohsen bin Abdulaziz Road, Sultana Road, Omar bin Al Khattab Road and King Fahd Road.

The pilot phase will continue until September 26, with parking available free of charge during the trial period for users registered through the Mawaqif Al Madinah application.

The trial is designed to give residents and visitors an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the parking system before paid operations begin.

Registration Through the Mawaqif Al Madinah App

The Madinah Region Municipality said users can register through the application using their mobile phone number and add their vehicle license plate information to their accounts.

Registration allows users to test the application and understand how the parking system works during the pilot period, while preparing their accounts and vehicle details for the full launch.

Parking Fee Set at SAR 3.45 per Hour

Once the pilot period ends, the parking fee will be SAR 3.45 per hour, including value-added tax.

The system will also provide a 20-minute payment grace period, giving users additional time to complete their payments.

Fees can be paid through the Mawaqif Al Madinah application or by scanning the payment code available at parking locations.

Camera-Based Operational Monitoring

Parking spaces covered by the project will be monitored operationally through cameras to improve management efficiency and regulate their use.

The project is intended to make better use of available parking spaces and simplify access, reducing the time drivers spend searching for parking and improving traffic flow in key areas.

Reducing Improper Parking and Improving Mobility

The Mawaqif Al Madinah project forms part of the Madinah Region Municipality’s efforts to regulate parking, reduce improper parking and improve mobility for residents and visitors.

The pilot period will allow users to become familiar with registration, parking and payment procedures before fees are introduced, supporting a gradual transition toward a more organized parking management system across Madinah.
