The two media personalities have a great history in Kenya’s media, having worked with the best TV stations. For the past few years, Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdallah have worked together at Citizen TV Kenya. This has not only placed them as the leading power couple on TV screens but also inspired many couples eager to work together.

Apart from journalism, Lulu and Rashid work together in various businesses and ventures. For instance, they’ve heavily invested in the movie industry, Jiffy Pictures (a leading film production company in Kenya). Through the company, they have helped discover talent from across the country. As a result, there has been a growth in the number of actors in Kenya for the past few years. The investment in the film industry has not only helped the couple to grow financially but also their reputation.

The laydback journalist has worked at Citizen TV for over 10 years where she is one of the best paid news anchors. According to sources, Lulu Hassan earns a monthly salary of Shs 400,000.

Additionally she gets allowances from the Royal Media services TV station. Apart from her pay as a journalist, Lulu gets paid from gigs and other private businesses.

Rashid Abdallah

Just like his wife, Rashid Abdallah is among the top earners at Citizen TV. However he gets a slightly higher salary than his wife. Rashid reportedly earns Shs 550,000 per month.

Companies and ventures

The two lovebirds are the co-founders of Jiffy Pictures. This company was founded with a task to produce Swahili telenovelas. Some of the most famous films produced by Jiffy Pictures include Maria, Neema, Becky, Zora, and Zari, just to name a few. According to Lulu, her husband is the brainchild of the most successful shows produced by the company.

Lulu

Lulu Hassan kickstarted her media career as an English radio host at Radio Salaam in 2008. After several years, she broke into television thanks to a cameraman who connected her to KTN. She was lucky because two Swahili anchors were going on maternity leave, thus KTN needed urgent replacements. It was until she moved to Royal Media Station’s Citizen TV that she became a household name in Kenya.

While at Citizen TV, Lulu Hassan hosted Nipashe Wikendi (one of the most famous Swahili news segments in the country). Up to date, she is highly rated in her role to present news in Swahili with eloquence and consistency. 

Rashid Abdallah

On the other hand, Rashid ventured into the media industry in 2006. His first job was at Radio Salama. Radio Salama. At the show, he was tasked with hosting a talk show that focused on challenges that affected people in the society. After several years, Rashid Abdallah moved to Nation Media Group, where he worked as a sports host at QFM and QTV. He was then moved to NTV as a Swahili news journalist. In 2018, he was paired with his wife, Lulu Hassan, co-host of Nipashe Wikendi. He replaced Kanze Dena after she was employed at the State House by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
