Legal Titans Unite: Ex-AGF Kanu Agabi and SAN Uchenna Njoku Join Nnamdi Kanu’s Defense Team

In a significant legal development, former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) Kanu Agabi (SAN) and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Uchenna Njoku have joined the defense team of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Kanu Agabi, a former Senator and two-time AGF, is expected to lead the legal team, which continues to include IPOB’s Special Counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, as well as Maxwell Opara and Nnaemeka Ejiofor. This bolstered defense comes ahead of Kanu’s upcoming court appearance scheduled for Friday, March 21, before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his controversial rendition from Kenya in June 2021. The recent inclusion of these legal heavyweights is seen as a strategic move to enhance his defense as the trial resumes under new judicial oversight.

Legal analysts suggest that the involvement of Agabi and Njoku signals a robust approach to challenging the charges against Kanu, potentially impacting the dynamics of the trial proceedings.
