  • Director, Directorate of Works and Physical Planning
  • Director, Directorate of Sports and Recreation
  • Director, University Multimedia Centre

About Lagos State University (LASU)

LASU was established in 1983 by an enabling law of Lagos State, Nigeria, for the advancement of learning, academic excellence, and to meet manpower needs of Lagos State. The University has sixteen (16) Faculties, six (6) Schools, nine (9) Centres, and three (3) Institutes across four (4) campuses.

Post 1: Director, Directorate of Works and Physical Planning

What the Director does

The Director, Works and Physical Planning, is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for maintenance of all University physical infrastructures.

Eligibility and experience

The candidate must have:

  • A good honours degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Structural Engineering, or Town Planning (from a recognised body)
  • Eighteen (18) years relevant post-qualification experience
  • A relevant higher degree
  • Five (5) years at Deputy Director of Works and Physical Planning level in a University or comparable body
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (such as NSE, COREN, CORBON, NIQS, and other related bodies)
  • Proficiency in ICT

Key responsibilities

The role covers, among other duties:

  • Onsite documentation of materials requested for jobs
  • General upkeep of University physical infrastructures
  • Preparing Builders Estimate or Bill of Quantity for minor projects on the campuses
  • Coordinating routine maintenance across Faculties, Departments, and Units
  • Ascertaining and confirming pre-bill of quantities
  • Certifying quality control of paints on buildings on LASU campuses
  • Any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor

Post 2: Director, Directorate of Sports and Recreation

What the Director does

The Director, Sports and Recreation, is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration and coordination of sports and recreation activities in the University.

Eligibility and experience

The candidate must have:

  • A good honours degree in Sports Science and Human Kinetics, or Physical and Health Education (from a recognised body)
  • Fifteen (15) years relevant post-qualification experience
  • A relevant higher degree
  • Five (5) years at Deputy Director of Sports and Recreation level in a University or comparable body
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies
  • Proficiency in ICT

Key responsibilities

The notice lists duties that include:

  • Designing, running, and overseeing sports leagues, fitness classes, camps, and recreation events for staff and students
  • Creating and managing budgets; seeking funding; handling sponsorships
  • Drawing up an annual sports calendar for the University
  • Securing, maintaining, and managing sports facilities, fields, and equipment
  • Any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor

Post 3: Director, University Multimedia Centre

What the Director does

The Director, University Multimedia Centre, is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for coordination of multimedia services in the University.

Eligibility and experience

The candidate must have:

  • A good honours degree from a recognised body
  • A relevant higher degree
  • Fifteen (15) years relevant qualification experience, plus computer skills in linear and non-linear editing of real-time recorded materials
  • Five (5) years at Deputy Director, University Multimedia Centre level in a University or comparable body
  • Skills in AI tools, editing software, and online streaming services
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies

Key responsibilities

The role includes:

  • Providing multimedia services and support for the University
  • Overseeing the multimedia content lifecycle from conceptualisation and design to final production
  • Any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor

Tenure, age requirement, and remuneration

Tenure

The appointment of a Director is for a single term of five (5) years, not renewable.

Age requirement

A candidate must not be above sixty (60) years by March, 2026 (the Council stated this Age limit clearly).

Remuneration

Directors at LASU earn a basic salary of CONUNASS 15, with other benefits and allowances that apply to Directors in Nigerian public universities, as approved by the Governing Council of LASU.

Candidates are to apply with Fifteen (15) copies of a detailed CV. The CV should include:

  • Full name
  • Place and date of birth
  • Nationality (if Nigerian, state of origin)
  • Marital status; number and ages of children
  • Academic qualifications (include class of degree; attach copies of certificates)
  • Professional qualifications (attach copies of certificates)
  • Statement of experience, with details of former and present position
  • Names and addresses of three (3) referees who can speak to character, professional, and managerial skills
  • Contact address (telephone number(s) and e-mail address)

Where to submit the application

All applications must be submitted under CONFIDENTIAL COVER. The envelope should be marked “POST OF DIRECTOR” (as applicable), sealed, addressed, and submitted to:

Deadline and shortlisted candidates

Applications must reach the Registrar not later than six (6) weeks from the date of publication. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with the Selection Board on a date to be communicated.
