Labour Party Chieftain, Professor Chris Nwokobia has alleged that the withdrawal of the Labour Party court case at the Supreme Court by its candidate, Beatrice Itubo was a smart move to ensure that Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains in office. He stated that the Labour Party had an in-house agreement that they should allow Fubara to focus on governance and deliver on his mandate to the people of Rivers State. He pointed out that Mrs Beatrice Itubo didn’t want to be used as a tool to heighten the tension in the state.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”The Labour Party said at this point what is necessary is to allow Fubara to settle down and impact positively on the people of the state. Because for what reason did she run for governorship? Is it not to ensure life gets better for the masses and the people who live in that space. It is in the public space that the minister of FCT wanted to use Beatrice Itubo suit at the Supreme Court to stop Fubara. And she is saying I’m not going to be able to a tool in the hands of somebody who wants to disorganize or rupture the process of governance in my state.”
