The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, has ordered massive deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the Easter celebration.

Fatai said the move was part of a comprehensive security arrangement to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free festivity before, during, and after the celebration.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

He said officers had been strategically deployed to worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, transportation hubs, and other critical infrastructure across the state. He added that special attention had been given to riverine areas, with the Marine Police deployed to strengthen surveillance and patrol on waterways.

According to him, the measure is aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring safety in the riverine communities. He also disclosed that traffic management plans had been put in place in collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure free flow of traffic throughout the festive period.

“Special attention has also been given to the riverine areas, with the Marine Police strategically deployed for enhanced surveillance and patrol to prevent criminal activities and ensure safety within the waterways.

Fatai extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful and urged residents to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence. He also assured residents of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property.

The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities to security agencies.
