Lagos Police Launch Probe into segxwal Misconduct Allegations Against Pastor Chris Okafor

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to begin a formal investigation into multiple allegations of segxwal misconduct leveled against Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor.

The directive follows growing public concern after a wave of allegations against the cleric spread widely on social media in recent days, prompting calls for official intervention.

Reports indicate that Pastor Okafor stepped aside from his pastoral duties on New Year’s Day as the controversy deepened. Several women have accused him of segxwal and emotional misconduct, including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who has been vocal about her claims.

During a church service last Sunday, Okafor publicly apologised to Ogala, kneeling before the congregation as he admitted to making “mistakes” and asked for forgiveness. The apology came shortly after his marriage to a new wife, Pearl, on December 16, 2025, at a ceremony attended by prominent clerics.

Initially, the Lagos State Police Command said it could not act on the allegations due to the absence of a formal petition from any of the alleged victims. The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, had stated on Friday that no official complaint had been filed despite the online uproar.

However, following renewed enquiries and direct engagement with the Commissioner of Police on Saturday night, Adebisi confirmed on Sunday that CP Jimoh had directed the SCID to invite the pastor for questioning and also reach out to the alleged victims.

She explained that the commissioner ordered the investigation to proceed even without a formal petition, while potential complainants and witnesses would be contacted to provide statements to support the inquiry.

Adebisi further revealed that she personally reached out to a YouTuber who interviewed some of the alleged victims in order to obtain direct access to individuals willing to cooperate with investigators.

The allegations against Okafor first became public on December 14, when Doris Ogala posted a series of emotional videos on Instagram. She claimed she was involved in a segxwal relationship with the pastor from 2017 for about nine years, during which he repeatedly promised to marry her.

Ogala alleged that the cleric later married another woman despite those promises. She also accused him of sharing explicit images and videos of her without consent, contributing to the breakdown of her previous marriage and causing emotional distress and financial hardship.

As part of her claims, she released screenshots of alleged conversations and bedroom photographs. She further alleged that the pastor offered her $10,000 to withdraw her accusations and falsely accuse a rival cleric of sponsoring the scandal.

Through her lawyers, Ogala subsequently issued a legal notice demanding ₦1 billion in damages, citing alleged threats, intimidation, arrest and detention following her public disclosures.

As the controversy expanded, other women also came forward with separate allegations of segxwal misconduct, manipulation and infidelity against the pastor. Among them was his former wife, Bessem Okafor, who accused him of deception, serial infidelity and physical abuse.

The police investigation is expected to determine the validity of the claims as public attention remains fixed on the unfolding case.
