The Emir of Kaiama, Muazu Omar, has revealed that attackers who massacred approximately 75 people in Woro village had announced in advance that they were coming to preach, with no community members objecting to the visit.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, the traditional ruler narrated how the pretext of religious preaching was used to facilitate the deadly assault. “They gave us a notice that they are coming to preach, and nobody objected to it, only to find out that instead of coming to preach, they came to massacre,” he said.

The Emir called for establishment of a military base in Woro to address the security vacuum in the expansive, sparsely populated region bordering the national park. According to him, the area’s geographical characteristics make it vulnerable to terrorist exploitation.

He highlighted the need for consolidated and comprehensive military presence to contain armed groups that have effectively taken control of the territory. “They have virtually taken over the whole area. And unfortunately, some of our boys, some of our people from the area, have joined them. Now they’re in the system, and they’re making it very difficult to monitor. They are the informants to the terrorists. They are the participants,” the Emir stated.
