In the early hours of Thursday morning, rapper Kodak Black, born Bill Kapri, found himself in legal trouble as he was apprehended in Broward County. The charges brought against the music artist included possession of cocaine, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, probation violation, and improper stopping/standing/parking of a vehicle.

The incident unfolded when a Plantation Police officer, patrolling around 2:07 a.m., discovered a black Bentley SUV with its tail lights on, parked near the 600 block off NW 47th Terrace. The vehicle obstructed northbound traffic, prompting the officer to approach for a closer inspection. Upon reaching the driver’s side, the officer found Kodak Black asleep in the driver’s seat with the window halfway down. A distinct aroma of burnt weed emanated from the vehicle, indicating possible illicit activity.

With the arrival of a backup officer, the first officer opened the driver’s side door and discovered a Styrofoam cup emitting the smell of alcohol. Further inspection revealed cannabis wrapping paper and suspected cannabis residue throughout the center console. Kodak was then asked to exit the car and identified through his driver’s license. When questioned about the presence of weapons or illegal substances, the situation took a more alarming turn.

As the first officer ran Kodak’s license and registration in the patrol car, a “white powder” was observed falling behind him, illuminated by the police car’s lights. This led the officers to suspect that Kodak was attempting to discard drugs. Upon returning to Kodak, the first officer noticed white powder in his mouth and “white rock-like substances” on the ground. A field test confirmed the substance as cocaine, resulting in Kodak’s immediate arrest.

A search of Kodak’s person revealed a clear plastic baggie in his left pocket, also testing positive for cocaine. Alongside the charges, he received a traffic citation, and his vehicle, noted with front passenger side bumper and door damage possibly from a crash, was towed from the scene. The unfolding events paint a vivid picture of the rapper’s encounter with law enforcement that fateful night.
