Killer Kross wins MLW world title in Battle Riot VIII

Killer Kross is a world champion after winning the gold in Battle Riot VIII. Kross entered the Royal Rumble style match at #1, and he outlasted the field to claim the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.

The nitty-gritty came down to Kross, Matt Riddle, Bishop Dyer (aka Baron Corbin), Donovan Dijak, Austin Aries, and Alexander Hammerstone. The wrestlers paired off with Kross and Riddle, the tag team champion Skyscrapers, and, well, Aires tried to convince Hammer. Hammerman is no dummy. He declined Aries’ strategic request, so Aries began punching the powerhouse. Aries set up for a brainbuster, however, Hammerstone muscled into a reversal for a vertical suplex to toss Aries over the ropes.

Hammestone turned his attention to Riddle, while the Skyscrapers double-teamed Kross. Dyer and Dijak goozled Kross to lift him onto the ropes teetering toward elimination. Kross fired up to escape, then he dodged each Skyscraper to send them falling down to the floor for elimination. Meanwhile, Riddle and Hammerstone were caught up in the ropes fighting. Kross rushed over to dump them out and earn the world title.

Scarlett Bordeaux rushed out to celebrate with her husband. Kross dedicated the win to his mother, who was ringside to watch him wrestle live for the first time. Kross thanked the fans for their support over the years. Until next time, tick tock.

The Battle Riot had a few other storylines and fun moments.

Mads Krugger entered as champion. The mercenary recently cut ties with the Contra Unit, and they didn’t take kindly to that betrayal. Ikuro Kwon was the point man leading the charge against Krugger. He was joined by Kushida, who turned heel earlier in the night after winning the MLW World Middleweight Championship. Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Satoshi Kojima were supposed to be in the Battle Riot, but Contra goons ambushed them backstage. Their spots were stolen by Babathunder and Simon Gotch. Despite Kwon spitting green mist in his face, Krugger still fought tough to eliminate those ruffians. The wild card was a shirtless fat man, who is nameless at this moment in time. This mysterious Contra soldier belly bumped Krugger off the apron for the elimination. The Contra attack continued with the tubby heavyweight landing a splash off the apron onto Krugger. The Contra Unit loaded Krugger into a body bag and carried him out.

Paul Walter Hauser and Paul London have a tense friendship over the months. London scored a sneaky roll-up on Hauser for the elimination. Hauser reacted by bear hugging London over the ropes. The fisticuffs started flying, and Hauser landed a flying senton on London atop a table.

Festus was the most popular surprise appearance. When the Skyscrapers bullied him in the corner, Karl Anderson rang the bell. Festus went into beast mode.

Josh Bishop tossed Matthew Justice over the ropes crashing onto a table.
