The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it will deploy 10,250 personnel for the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8.

Afolabi Babawale, the corps spokesperson, in a statement on Wednesday, quoted Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the NSCDC, as saying that the personnel will provide maximum security before, during, and after the polls.

The personnel includes tactical teams from the national headquarters and neighbouring states, according to Audi.

Audi said the deployment is part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free exercise.

He added that the corps will work closely with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) to safeguard voters, electoral materials, and officials.

The corps also assured residents of Anambra that it remains committed to maintaining law and order while protecting the fundamental rights of citizens throughout the election.
