“It Helps Them Get Signed”- Odumodublvck On Why Artists Lie About Their Age

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has raised concerns over alleged age falsification within the country’s music scene.

During a recent livestream conversation with streamer Enzo, the rapper claimed that several Nigerian artists intentionally lower their ages in order to appear more appealing to record labels and brand sponsors.

He further explained that many investors in the entertainment industry tend to focus on younger talents, which, according to him, pushes some artists to misrepresent their real ages in a bid to secure opportunities and funding.

“I am 32 and I don’t bother myself for getting things right at this age. A lot of artists reduce their age because of record labels and partnership deals. You know a lot of investors in the music industry wouldn’t want to invest in older artists,” he expressed.
