Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a strategic partnership with French AI company Mistral AI, as companies look to move AI projects from trials to wider business use.

Under the agreement, TCS becomes the first global systems integrator partner for Mistral Forge, Mistral's enterprise AI platform for building advanced AI models using an organisation's own proprietary data and domain expertise.

TCS said it will use Mistral Forge to develop customised AI models for enterprises, enabling organisations to incorporate their own knowledge, processes and datasets into AI systems.

The companies said the collaboration will help improve business decision-making while giving organisations greater control over how AI systems are built, deployed and governed.

The partnership will initially focus on sectors including banking, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, healthcare and the public sector, where regulatory requirements and trust in AI systems are particularly important.

As part of the agreement, TCS will establish a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Mistral technologies.

The centre will support joint innovation, training, project delivery and AI governance, while giving clients early access to Mistral's beta models.

Arthur Mensch, CEO and Co-Founder at Mistral, said, “TCS’ global scale and contextual industry knowledge make them an ideal partner for Mistral. Together, we are enabling enterprises worldwide to move from experimentation to AI deployment with systems that are open, production-ready and aligned with their strategic and operational requirements.”

K Krithivasan, CEO & Managing Director at TCS said, “The partnership with Mistral reinforces TCS’ commitment to scaling enterprise AI with trust, control, and measurable business outcomes at the core. This partnership expands TCS’ AI ecosystem, uniquely positioning TCS to create a differentiated solution proposition for our clients. Together with Mistral, we will solve for specific industry challenges, regulatory requirements, and sovereign needs for our enterprise customers.”

The announcement comes as enterprises increasingly seek AI systems tailored to their industries and operations, rather than relying only on general-purpose models.

Mistral Forge is built to integrate company-specific knowledge, workflows and datasets into AI applications, allowing organisations to build what the company describes as "frontier-grade" AI systems adapted to specialised business environments.

TCS said the partnership forms part of its broader "Infrastructure to Intelligence" AI strategy, which includes investments across infrastructure, models, data, applications, platforms and physical and digital intelligence.

The company said the strategy supports its ambition to become the world's largest AI-led technology services company.

Mistral, headquartered in France, develops open-source and enterprise AI models, products and infrastructure, and describes its approach to AI as decentralised and transparent.
