AC Milan head coach, Stefano Pioli, has revealed why Super Eagles right-winger, Samuel Chukwueze was subjected to just seven minutes of game time in their clash against Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Old Ladies were dominant in Turin, recording seven shots on target while limiting Milan to zero shots on target, despite the game ending in a goalless draw.

Christian Pulisic started the game on the right flank, playing 83 minutes before Chukwueze was sent on in the final seven minutes to replace the American.

The 24-year-old has experienced a mixed season with the seven-time UEFA Champions League winners since joining last summer from Villareal. He struggled to find the back of the net in the first half of the season.

The second half of the season has been much kinder to the former Villareal winger, but he still remains second fiddle as Stefano Pioli considers Pulisic as his first choice on the right flank.

After the 0-0 draw against Juventus that saw Chukwueze play just seven minutes of football, Pioli was asked about the winger’s situation in his post-match interview. He revealed his reason to be mainly because he didn’t want to play with one less midfielder.

“I prefer Pulisic instead. Chukwueze is also doing well but at the moment, I won’t give up an extra midfielder to play with four attacking players. Therefore, Chukwueze was the one who had to be sacrificed,” the 58-year-old Italian coach said in quotes revealed Siempre Milan.

AC Milan will have a new coach next summer after the club confirmed that they will part ways with Stefano Pioli at the end of the season
