Nigeria and Ajax Amsterdam striker, Chuba Amechi Akpom, is uncertain of his future with the Dutch record Champions despite only joining last summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old made the switch from EFL Championship side, Middlesbrough to the Eredivisie last summer, joining the four-time UEFA Champions League winners on a five-year contract.

In 34 games for Ajax this season, the former Arsenal man has scored 15 goals and provided two assists despite his limited playing time at the Johan Cruyff Arena, averaging a goal contribution every 91 minutes.

Soccernet.ng earlier reported that Akpom is unhappy in the Dutch Capital, with speculation about a return to England swirling around, as Everton, Luton Town and Nottingham Forest are interested in the signature of the former Middlesbrough man.

Speaking about his future after Ajax’s 4-1 win over F.C. Volendam, Akpom revealed that he’s still unsure about his future at his club, instead, he plainly admitted he wants to have fun with his football.

“I don’t know yet what the club wants. I just want to have fun and play football, it doesn’t matter where. We have two more games to play and then we will see what will happen. I cannot predict the future. The most important thing is that I enjoy it. Whether I start or have to come from the bench, I do what I have to do,” The Hale End Academy graduate told ESPN in quotes revealed by Voetbal International.

Ajax had a terrible campaign in this season’s Eredivisie outing, racking up 52 points from 32 games. They’re also in 5th place on the league table, 35 points behind league Champions, PSV Eindhoven.
