Hon. (Dr.) Olalere D-Al-Ameen Commiserates with Dr. Yinka Ayefele, Fresh FM Over Devastating Inferno

The Honourable member representing Ibadan Northwest State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Dawood Olalere D-Al-Ameen, has expressed deep sympathy to renowned broadcaster and music icon, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, following the fire incident that razed the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria in Ibadan on Friday, August 15.

The inferno, which engulfed the Challenge office of the station, destroyed key facilities including the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, newsroom, transmitter and server rooms, causing severe disruption to operations during a live broadcast.

In a statement issued on Saturday to his media team, Hon. D-Al-Ameen described the incident as a tragic setback not only for Fresh FM but also for the media industry and the people of Oyo State.

“I am profoundly saddened by the fire disaster that befell Fresh FM. This station is more than just a broadcast outfit; it is a cultural voice, an educational platform, and a unifying force in our society. My heartfelt prayers are with Dr. Yinka Ayefele, his dedicated staff, and the millions of listeners who rely on Fresh FM for information, entertainment, and inspiration,” he said.

The lawmaker, who is committed to advancing the welfare of his constituency, further expressed confidence that the resilience and determination that have distinguished Fresh FM over the years will see the station rise stronger from the ashes.

Dr. D-Al-Ameen also lauded the timely efforts of residents, passersby, and the Oyo State Fire Service in containing the flames, noting that their swift response reflected true communal spirit and civic responsibility.

He called on government agencies, corporate organizations, and well-meaning individuals to support Fresh FM in restoring its operations, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding media institutions as custodians of information and culture.

Furthermore, he urged relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the cause of the fire and put in place improved safety measures to prevent future occurrences, stressing the need for stronger emergency preparedness across critical institutions in the state.
