Here’s Why You Need To Drag Your Friends to The MTN Campus Invasion

School life is FUN, especially when you have the right plugs and connections! And one of the best moments for us as students is the events and parties. Yes, if my mother is reading this, my studies are the most important aspect of my uni life. *coughs*

And one of the best to ever do this campus event is MTN. Forget dragging them for 10 minutes, when it comes to campus events that will leave you FULL, they know how to do it. And they know we get it.

From parties and skills sessions to cinema experience and shows, they have it. There are prizes – car gifts too! The MTN Campus Invasion has been at UNIBEN, FUTO and UNIABUJA in the past five months. And on October 15 they will be headed to Benue State University.

Here is what to expect:

1. Multiple Activity Zones

The three-day event includes a high-energy Activation Arena, SME Empowerment Booths where students discover entrepreneurial skills, Partner Booths, Digital Games Booth and Giant Board Games, a Content Creation Booth, and a Cinema Experience.

The Activation Arena serves as the main hub where major activities and announcements take place. The Digital Games Booth features popular video games where students can compete in tournaments.

1. Entrepreneurship Support

The Content Creation Booth offers equipment and guidance for students interested in photography, video production, and social media content.The Cinema Experience provides screenings of films and video content in a dedicated viewing area.

You can expect an SME Empowerment Booths that allows students to discover entrepreneurial skills through workshops and demonstrations. These booths connect student business owners with resources and knowledge to grow their ventures.

Student entrepreneurs can set up displays in the entrepreneurship zone to showcase their products or services. The three-day period provides extended exposure to a large student audience actively engaged in campus activities.

1. Gaming and Competitions

For the gamers and the closeted gamers looking to make a mark, you have been sorted.  Multiple gaming tournaments will run across the three days, with different games featured each day. Students can participate in competitive matches or casual play sessions depending on their skill level and interest.

Giant Board Games create a different competition style that emphasises strategy and group interaction. These oversized games become social activities where spectators can watch and encourage participants.

Dance competitions are expected based on the format used at previous Campus Invasion stops. The UNIBEN event featured dance and game shows that kept audiences engaged. These competitions give students opportunities to perform in front of large crowds.

1. Music and Entertainment

The Campus Invasion tour is known for bringing surprise live performances by popular celebrity artists during the grand finale. Music performances are scheduled with the biggest acts typically appearing on the final evening.

The performances range from established artists to up-and-coming musicians. Some slots may feature student performers who get opportunities to showcase their talents to large audiences.

Other winners at UNIBEN received laptops, MTN MiFi devices, and airtime worth thousands of naira. The prize distribution includes both major items like vehicles and laptops plus smaller prizes that more students can win.

1. Skills Development

Raffle draws are conducted at the venue with winners selected from students present during the draw times. Students must be present at the venue during draw times to claim prizes if their entries are selected.

Sessions are led by professionals with experience in technology, media, and entrepreneurship. The instructors provide actionable advice students can implement immediately rather than theoretical concepts.

Topics covered will include social media strategy, content creation techniques, basic coding, digital marketing, and financial literacy for small businesses. Students can attend multiple workshops across the three days based on their interests.

The interactive format encourages questions and hands-on participation. Students leave sessions with specific skills or knowledge they can apply to their academic work or personal projects.

What the Numbers Show

The Campus Invasion programme was relaunched in 2021 after the global pandemic and by 2023 had expanded to 12 institutions, reaching 4.75 million students through physical activations, online channels, and campaign visits. The scale of the initiative makes it one of the largest youth engagement programmes in Nigerian universities.

The UNIBEN Campus Invasion reached over a million young students over three days with booths for student entrepreneurs, game booths, and many other activities. The event has become one of the most talked-about campus activations across the country.

Dress To Impress

Finally, there is no dress code, just look great. You do not know who you will meet, so do not stroll in from your hostel in slippers and knockers. Trust me, the winner of the car in UNIBEN will forever be immortalised with the photos of his shorts in his brand new car. The photos are EVERYWHERE. Enough said!
