Hamas will disarm or we will disarm them- Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has delivered a sharp warning that the militant group must disarm — or face U.S. intervention.

During an interview with journalists while hosting Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House, Trump referenced his recently brokered 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the Israel–Hamas conflict.

“Well, they’re going to disarm because they said they were going to disarm,” Trump said. “And if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them. They know I’m not playing games.”

He emphasized that Hamas had agreed to disarm as part of the peace agreement, but warned that if they fail to comply, the U.S. would take action “quickly and perhaps violently.”

Trump also claimed that Hamas misrepresented the number of hostages’ bodies they held. The group had reportedly promised to return several, but only four bodies were handed over earlier in the week.

“If they don’t disarm, we will disarm them,” Trump said firmly. “It’ll happen fast, and they understand me.”

He revealed that he had spoken directly with Hamas leaders, saying:

“I spoke to Hamas, and I said, ‘You’re going to disarm, right?’ They said, ‘Yes, sir, we’re going to disarm.’ That’s what they told me. They will disarm or we will disarm them.”

Peace Efforts After Two Years of Conflict

Trump’s remarks came just hours after returning from Israel and Egypt, where he celebrated the ceasefire agreement that he helped broker between Israel and Hamas following two years of devastating war.

The initial peace deal included Hamas’s release of 20 Israeli captives in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian inmates and the first of three planned Israeli troop withdrawals.
