Government to host Independence Day national parade at forecourt of Presidency 

Ghana’s 69th Independence Day National Parade will be held at the forecourt of the Presidency on Friday, 6th March, 2026. 

A statement issued by Dr Winnifred N. Mahama, the Acting Director of the Information Services Department, said the Department cordially invites all interested media houses, to apply for accreditation for coverage of the event.  

Touching on the application requirements, it said interested media organisations were requested to submit an official letter of assignment from their media houses, with the names and contact details of nominated journalists and or camera crew.  

It said the submission of these details should be made through this email address. 

 Application Deadline: Friday, 27 February, 2026, at 17:00 hours. 

With regards to the accreditation allocation, the statement said because of space constraints and the high volume of expected applications, each media house would be allocated only one accreditation. 

It said media houses with existing accreditation to cover the Presidency might utilize their assigned reporters for this event.  

Concerning guidelines for photography and videos, the statement said all accredited photographers and videographers must adhere to the following guidelines including their arrival at the venue by 0645 hours for security clearance and positioning.  

It urged them to always display accreditation badges prominently and to follow instructions from security personnel and media liaison officers.  

It also encouraged them to remain within designated media zones throughout the event. 

On equipment restrictions, the statement said only professional cameras and video equipment would be allowed. 

It said no drones or aerial photography devices without prior written approval would be allowed.  

It said tripods and monopods must be positioned only at designated areas and that stabilisers and gimbals were permitted within specified guidelines.  

On filming and photography protocols, the statement cautioned that there should be no movements during the national anthem, presidential address, and ceremonial moments.  

It urged the practitioners to maintain their positions within their assigned media zones, to avoid obstructing the view of dignitaries, guests, live broadcast cameras and other media personnel.  

No live streaming from any media personal and mobile devices would be allowed, statement cautioned. 

It stated that the official live video feed would be provided by the Presidency’s Communications, and Ghana Television and would be accessible to all interested broadcasters. 

Concerning restricted areas, the statement said Presidential dais and immediate surroundings, only accredited official photographers and videographers would be permitted through the Red Security Zone, Security checkpoints and restricted zones and VIP seating areas.  

With regards to live broadcast/streaming the statement said the Presidency Communications team wouls provide clean/raw feed for media houses wishing to broadcast or stream the programme live.  

It urged interested media houses to indicate their interest when submitting their accreditation application.  

The statement said accreditation was non-transferable, late arrivals might not be admitted and media personnel must dress in formal or business attire. 

The statement said for further enquiries, interested media houses should contact Mr Samuel Antwi, the Media Liaison Officer via 024694 8885 or email. 

“We look forward to your cooperation in ensuring the successful coverage of this national event,” it said.
