Galadima Declares Governorship Ambition, Receives Warm Welcome in Yola

By Ibrahim Abubakar Jimeta

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Galadima, has declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Galadima made his intention known upon his arrival in Yola, where he was received by a large crowd of supporters, party loyalists, and well-wishers who thronged the venue to welcome him.

Addressing the crowd, he said his decision to join the race was in response to calls from the people, pledging courage, vision, and commitment to serve the state.

“The people have called, and I have answered. This is not just about politics, but about the future of our state, the empowerment of our youth, and restoring hope in governance,” he stated.

He expressed appreciation to the people of Adamawa State for their support and confidence, describing the growing backing across communities as a reflection of a collective desire for purposeful leadership and positive change.

According to him, the movement is driven by unity and a shared aspiration to build a more inclusive, fair, and people-oriented system of governance.

As part of activities marking his declaration, Galadima is expected to commission an ultra-modern campaign office in Yola, aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization and enhancing political engagement across the state.

The event is expected to attract key stakeholders, party executives, youth groups, and community leaders, signaling what observers describe as an early build-up to the 2027 governorship race.

Galadima reiterated his commitment to delivering a stronger and more prosperous Adamawa, noting that the journey to 2027 is “a mission powered by the people.”

Speaking at the event, a former Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State Government, Professor Maxwell Gidado, expressed confidence in Galadima’s candidacy, stating that the Southern Zone fully supports his ambition.

Also speaking, Ambassador Calvin Peter said the massive turnout was a clear indication of widespread support for Galadima’s mission.

In his remarks, the member representing Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Federal Constituency, Abubakar Baba Zango, noted that since the creation of Nigeria, the Adamawa Central Zone has not produced an elected governor in the state. He called for support for Galadima, describing his ambition as timely and deserving.

On her part, a member of the Federal Character Commission, Bema Ovaldi, expressed optimism about Galadima’s chances, stating that people from various communities and tribes across Adamawa are united in their support for his aspiration.
