However, all the attendees, including the ex-DP, escaped for safety after goons stormed the event. According to various reports, some people were injured amid the chaos.

Hours later, the embattled former Deputy President slammed the government for the happenings. Gachagua cited that the Kenya Kwanza government withdrew his security earlier in the week so as to expose him to such attacks. Additionally, the former Mathira MP said that his car was pelted with stones as he made his way out of the scene.

“It now looks like the decision to withdraw my security was to leave me exposed to the kind of attack we have witnessed today,” Gachagua said on his social media accounts

The former DP further lamented, claiming that the goons who stormed the burial event were armed with machetes, iron bars, and sticks. According to Gachagua, some mourners were also attacked as they prepared to bury their loved one.

The vocal politician has now sent a candid message to the state, citing that he won’t be intimidated to stop supporting Kenyans during sad moments. This comes a few weeks after Gachagua was impeached as the Deputy President of Kenya.

“We will not be scared away from standing with Kenyans who need us to support them in their moments of need. We just expect such a terrible moment of shame will not be repeated.” The former DP further said.

In the past few days, Rigathi Gachagua has been criticizing President William Ruto and his camp for ‘throwing’ him out of the government. However, the president has never responded to his former deputy. This is as Rigathi Gachagua has been linking a number of controversial incidences to the Government of Kenya led by the President.
