Former child actor Blake Garrett has died at the age of 33.

His death was confirmed by his mother, Carol Garrett, who stated that Blake passed away on Sunday. She added that the family is awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

In an interview with TMZ, Carol Garrett revealed that Blake was admitted to an emergency room in Oklahoma last week after experiencing severe pain. He was later diagnosed with shingles, a viral infection known to cause intense discomfort.

She further stated that Blake may have attempted to self-medicate to manage the pain associated with the illness, which she believes could have contributed to his accidental death. No official cause has been released pending the autopsy findings.

Carol Garrett also noted that Blake had been living a stable and positive life in Tulsa, Oklahoma, over the past three years. She said he had made significant personal progress and had remained sober during that period.

Blake Garrett was born in Austin, Texas, and began his acting career at a young age. He appeared in several local stage productions, including “Aladdin and His Magical Lamp” and “Peanuts: A Charlie Brown Tribute.” At the age of 10, he toured internationally with the arena production “Barney’s Colorful World International Tour.”

His most notable role came in 2006, when he portrayed the character Plug in “How to Eat Fried Worms.” The performance earned him a Young Artist Award for Best Young Ensemble Cast.
