A fire outbreak has disrupted operations at Terminal One of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos after flames engulfed sections of the fourth and fifth floors.

The blaze reportedly began on one of the affected floors before spreading to adjoining areas, prompting an immediate evacuation of impacted sections as a safety precaution.

Air Traffic Controllers in the control tower were swiftly alerted and remain safe while closely monitoring developments. Emergency response teams are working intensively to contain the fire and prevent further damage.

Inbound flights scheduled to arrive in Lagos have been instructed to delay departure from their originating airports, while aircraft already en route may be required to remain airborne until landing clearance is granted. Already, a Lagos-bound flight from London has been diverted to Abuja.

Fire and rescue officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) are currently battling the blaze. Authorities have confirmed that no casualties have been recorded so far, with further updates expected as investigations continue.
