FG Seeks Death Penalty for Nnamdi Kanu

The Federal Government has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to impose the death penalty on Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in his ongoing terrorism trial.

Prosecuting counsel Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) told the court that over 75 security personnel were killed in attacks allegedly linked to Kanu, his group and followers.

He added that many other innocent Nigerians also lost their lives and public property was destroyed.

Awomolo argued that applying the maximum punishment would “serve justice to all the victims” of the alleged terrorist activities.

Justice James Omotosho has stood down proceedings until 4 p.m., when he is expected to deliver the sentence.

Recall that Dockaysworld reported that Nnamdi Kanu had been convicted of terrorism charges moments ago.
