Encouraging members of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE), Okpolupm Etteh, the lawmaker representing the Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, emphasized the importance of embracing emerging technologies to ensure safety and foster industrial growth.

Highlighting the significance of innovation and progress in today’s industrial landscape, Etteh made these remarks in Uyo during the installment of Engr. Ndifreke Inokon as the 3rd Chapter Chairman of NISafetyE in Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing the theme of the event, “Safety Engineering and Regulatory Compliance: Synergies for Sustainable Industrial Development,” Etteh, represented by Henry Ekpe-Nko, the former Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Council, urged Safety Engineers to prioritize the safety of workers, the public, and the environment as a non-negotiable responsibility.

Etteh underlined that safety engineering and regulatory compliance are not merely mandates for engineers but crucial foundations for sustainable industrial progress.

According to him, “It is our duty as professionals to ensure that our organizations prioritize the safety of workers, the public, and the environment. This commitment to upholding the highest safety and compliance standards is unwavering.

He added, “Adaptation to new practices, incorporation of emerging technologies, and continuous enhancement of regulatory frameworks are essential to keep up with changes while ensuring the protection of lives and livelihoods. In a rapidly evolving industrial era, the roles of safety engineering and regulatory compliance are increasingly vital.”

Expressing optimism in the leadership of Engr. Ndifreke Inokon, Etteh also urged them to integrate environmental stewardship and social responsibility into their operations.
