The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The announcement was made in Abuja through a statement from the Ministry of Interior.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, spoke on behalf of the government, sending greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and worldwide.

He encouraged followers to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

The minister also called on all Nigerians, regardless of faith, to pray for the nation’s peace, security, and progress.

He urged citizens to support initiatives that promote unity, harmony, and sustainable development.

The government sees Eid-ul-Mawlid as a time to strengthen community bonds, practice mutual respect, and serve humanity.

Citizens were reminded to stay law-abiding, remain aware of security, and continue supporting policies aimed at improving the well-being of everyone in the country.
